That's what we've been asking each other for awhile now. Harlow still hasn't technically started crawling. But I do have to explain that her combination of scooting, rolling, turning, reaching and lunging is certainly getting her what she wants. And it's not her toys. It's the remote control, the phone, my shoes, or her favorite, the dog's bone. I can't really blame her for not crawling. She can literally roll back to back, faster than you'd think possible. It's probably faster than crawling (it's got to be since it's my kid). So HA! all you mom's who have 5 month old babies who can crawl. What you should really ask is "Can your baby ROLL?" Anyway, I learned this the hard way last week. While at Chad and Ria's house, it was late and time for Harlow to go to bed. Since we didn't want to leave, I thought I'd try laying her down upstairs. It's quiet and dark up there, just like her crib at home. Yeah right mom. You can already imagine my idea didn't work. So, I rocked her a bit and she fell fast asleep within no time. I gently placed her on the pallet I made on the floor. I softly got up and closed the door. I planned on waiting a minute on the other side just to make sure she was really asleep before I went back downstairs. Before I even got the door shut, I heard and felt a very loud thud as her head hit the door. She had to of rolled about 4 times consecutively to make it all the way to the door that fast. But, that's not the worst part. The door open inwards. So, here is my half asleep ticked off baby right up against the door that I can't open because I would either crush her or pinch her. I called (maybe screamed) for my backup and Daddy slowly wedged the door open while pushing her into the room. Pheww. That was a close one. So, yeah, she can roll and I bet that's faster than crawling anyway.
