Random Pictures

The other day I went into Harlow's room and this is what I found. She now loves to climb up on furniture whenever she gets a chance. In her room, she knows there is a pile of books by her chair so she was reaching clear over the edge o to grab them. She also likes to mess with her noise machine, trying to figure out how to turn it on and change the songs. But her most favorite thing to do ever, is the open her dresser drawers and pull out all the clothes inside. She tips over her laundry basket and pulls out her dirty clothes. What a weirdo. She does this every.single.day. No idea what the attraction to the clothes is, but that is what she likes to do so I let her. Only now, I make her clean it up herself.

Snack time on the chair watching Baby Einstein....

Getting ready for the pool!

Her overall development is right on track in all domains (language, social, physical and cognitive). At her 15 month appointment, she weighed 23.5 lbs (50%) and measured 31.25 inches tall (75%). I enjoy watching her play with other similarly aged children to see the differences that are so obvious this early in life. She is a mover, a leader and an explorer. She rarely stops moving, in fact, the only time she really does is when she is sleeping or when she is watching the 25 minute episodes of Baby Einstein. And only then if she has a snack within reach. She works up a sweat just playing in the house. When we are out and about, she will take off and not even look back to check in with me. I suppose she knows I will always be right there, so there is no need. She loves to climb on things and move large things like chairs and benches. She tries to pick up really heavy items and move them too. She doesn't mind getting dirty. The days I put her in dresses seems to be a hassle for her to maneuver around in. She has bumps and bruises on her legs. She is really a tomboy!

She understands all of these "commands" which is called receptive language. At this point in time, her receptive language is much more developed than her expressive language.
Go get your shoes (she finds a matching pair)
Go get a diaper
Go throw this away
Go put your clothes away
Go throw away your diaper
Let's go get dressed (goes to the dresser)
Let's get some breakfast/lunch/dinner (goes to the kitchen and fridge and tries to open up doors)
Clean up
Go get a book
Go give sissy/daddy/mommy a hug/kiss
It's time to go night night (goes to her bedroom)
Where's your paci? (looks in crib for paci)
Where's your tiger/monkey/baby/Rody/bottle/water/snack/brush/etc.
It's time for a bath (signs for bath and goes to bedroom to take off clothes)
It's time to go bye bye (goes and grabs stuffed Tiger and then goes to the door)
It's time to go to the park/walk (goes to door)

There is probably more, but I just can't think of it all right now. She understands a lot which has been fun lately to test her knowledge!

Expressively, she says:
dada (for me and Dax)
Leyla (about 1000 X per day)
Night night
Hi
WaWa
BaBa
All done
Moo (for cow)
Ruff (for dog)
Roar (for lion)
mama (but only when she is really tired and whiny)

And these are the signs she knows:
All done
Water
Banana
Eat
Cheese
Cracker (almost has this one)
Help
Open
Bath
Baby
Shoes

What a smart cookie we have! She is also testing her boundaries and knows what she can get away with and at what times. She loves to grab the remotes and point them at the TV or fan or push the buttons on my phone. She knows that with the iPhone you need to "swipe" with your finger on the touch screen. She mostly wants to mess with things that are not allowed and not toys. But she only does it when I'm not in proximity and if she sees me coming to stop her, she will try to get as much of it done as possible before I get to her. The other day, she had opened a wipes container. I told her "no-no" but was clear across the room. She proceeded to pull out as many wipes as quickly as her little hands would work until I reached her to take them away from her. The whole time her eyes were dead set on me. She can be a little stinker but we love her personality so much.

A Day in the Life of Harlow-14 months old

A Day in the Life of Harlow....

It's time to wake up! I start chirping around 8:30 these days. I play for awhile in my crib and sometimes I even fall back asleep for a little bit. I usually hear Leyla's nails on the tile and call out for her "Leyla, Leyla, Where are you?" and when my mommy opens the door to my bedroom, I say "There she is!" Never-mind my mommy. She's always around. Even first thing in the morning, I don't mind posing my cheese face. But those lights are SO bright!

Awww. Time for my bottle. My mommy says that these days are numbered, but I usually get my way so we will see about that! I love my bottle so much!

Time for breakfast at the table. We are in a hurry this morning because we are going to the zoo! I'm so excited that my daddy is home today!

Ok, ready to go. Look at my pretty hair!

Why did you take away my brush?!?!

Kissing Leyla Sissy-dog goodbye!

Daddy was showing me the brass turtles.

This tiger sort of scared me. I was holding pretty tight to my mommy's shirt.

This is my friend Addie. She and her mom met us at the zoo today!

As usual, I am in control, practically dragging Addie behind me!

But I did share my snacks with her (sort of)

Flamingos....just for Papa K

There is an awesome water fountain at the zoo. My mom and dad really wanted me to play in it. However. That thing was terrifying. I whined and fussed and latched onto my mom so I didn't have to run around. I hope I'm not scared all summer because my mom told me that she is going to take me to the pool every week until I'm not scared anymore.

Finally, they gave up and let me watch on the bench while I ate my lunch.

I was looking at the tigers with my daddy in this picture. My mommy picked out this tiger from the gift shop and I loved it. I didn't let it go all day! My mommy keeps saying this is her favorite picture of me ALL DAY!
Back home and nap time! Still have my tiger with me!
It's time to wake up from my 2.5 hour nap! I was tired after all that busy sightseeing at the zoo! I think my arms is stuck! Oh no! Help!

Just kidding mommy!

It's time for snack! Daddy likes to put me to work and get my own chair out!

Finally, I got myself sitting in the chair!

Now, it's time for us to go to the playground and play! I got to wear my pretty green skirt so my mommy could take pictures of me for St. Patrick's Day! I had so much fun climbing around!

Now, it's time for dinner with my mommy and daddy! I love to sit outside and flirt with everyone. I saw 3 dogs while we ate! It was so much fun! My mommy forgot my special cooler, so I ate avocado slices, some of daddy's hamburger, some of mommy's chicken and some crackers. It was all so yummy! I was such a good girl too, I always keep myself entertained and happy.

I'm learning to wipe my own face. I'm such a big girl!!!

Some how I got a hold of a food called "onion". I have no idea what this is, but since I grabbed it myself, I ate it.
Kisses for my mommy!

Still happy as can be, even after that long day I had!

Playing around before bath time. I can now climb onto all the couches and furniture.

I'm not too happy when I get out of the bath. Never have been. I just want to be cozy in my P.J.'s and milk in my belly!

I give my bottle to my daddy just like mommy told me to!

Being silly before bedtime. Anything to get a few more minutes with my lovies.

Night night! I had a great day!

How amazing is this little gal. We had such a great time today. She is just always so happy and easy to please. She loves her daddy so much and seems to really enjoy her time with him. She is also slightly obsessed with dogs these days. Until next time!
